What are the best shoes for standing all day?
Here is a great tip I learned many years ago while having the problem deciding what are the best shoes for standing all day?
Good all day shoes are important, but more important is to have several pairs of good walking shoes and good shoes for standing all day to rotate the shoes daily rather than wearing the same shoes continuously.
All shoes have built in elastomer substance of some type and when they get compressed from standing/walking all day, they need time to recover and so the heavier you are, the longer in between wearing of shoes should be allowed.
When I was in the hospitality industry and running a 24 hr hotel (900/day average) I would often rotate a pair of shoes during the day just for comfort.
I think often times we tend to wear shoes all day and much longer than the cushioning life but we don’t think about that part since they still look good outside.
Also, I have found that if you rotate shoes your feet are not as prone to swell as much.
Just to name a few but do you have problems with flat feet, low back pain, ankle pain, runners knee, pronation, plantar fasciitis (arch pain and/or heel pain), heel spurs, or neuroma? Are you having issues with corns and callouses, hammer toes and bunions?
Two things I learned from my own feet, was that:
1) the sole of the shoe need to have a soft cushion.
2) every area of the sole of your foot need to have support.
Foot problems are caused primarily by foot imbalances.
The 26 bones of your foot assume an abnormal, unstable position when you are standing or walking. Some of these imbalances are obvious, such as flat feet (also known as hyperpronation) and high arches (also known as hypersupination). Most however, are so subtle, they go undetected until symptoms occur. Your feet are the foundation of your body.
Foot imbalances put extra stress on the entire skeletal structure. This is one of the primary causes of ankle, knee, hip and back problems.
The bottom of the foot is not flat and the Plantar Fascia Ligament is meant to hold the arch up to give the foot the spring you need for walking or running. Without proper support this ligament gets tired and stretches, giving the result of flat feet. When this happens, everything gets out of alignment.
So back to the question of what are the best shoes for standing all day? Keep what I just wrote above in mind when shopping for the best comfortable shoes as you are on your feet all day.
Best comfortable shoes for work depends on your occupation so buy comfortable shoes for standing or comfortable walking shoes as needed. For example in nursing you need the best nursing shoes.
Comfortable shoes for problem feet are a little harder to find, so make sure they address your particular problem.
The best walking shoes for women and the best walking shoes for men are different only in design, but the support on the foot is the same.
Remember you are in your shoes all day and a happy foot means a happy end to the day so look carefully for your shoes for standing all day.
